Terrorism

The following is a general compilation of material which if found in the possession of a person may lead to a Prosecution under the Terrorism Acts, some may find that the list is very open and somewhat subject to interpretation.

The Courts have convicted a number of people for having such material, but the Courts have now accepted that individuals should not be prosecuted for ‘ thought crimes’, there must be other material or evidence to show that that they intend to go beyond the mere thought. This is fine and well until one looks at S.2 Terrorism Act 2000, which seeks to stop the glorification of Terrorism and under this section what is perceived as a ‘thought Crime under the 2000 Terrorism Act will be caught and deemed an offence.

Many will say most material can be found on YouTube, Torrent, and many other sites and therefore it is readily available. The law does not cater for such arguments as it may well be available bit will only come into your possession should you access. Example there is material relating to young children on the net, we are all aware but would it be a defense for a pedophile then to say its available on the net and I have done nothing wrong? People would have no sympathy for such an argument and this principle extends to Terrorism Material.
